Bruce Morgan

February 23, 1950 — May 7, 2015

Bruce William Morgan, 65, of Coolville, Ohio, with his wife and daughters at his side, peacefully left his blessed life on May 7, 2015 to enter his heavenly home.

Bruce will be watching over his loving wife and soul-mate of 44 years, Judith Ann, and daughters Amy (David) Miller of Lancaster and Beth (Derek) Atherton of Athens; grandchildren Morgan and Sophia Atherton, and Kyle, Kaylyn, Chloe and Amy K. Miller. His family all respected and loved him dearly.

Bruce is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law Earl and Betty Coen of Coolville; sister Susan Jividen and brother Kevin (Jennifer), both of McArthur; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Debbie (Scott) Zimmerman, Steve (Barb) Coen, both of Guysville; Greg (Missy) Coen of Stewart; and Penny (Mike) Nutter of Belpre; nieces and nephews, and other special family members with whom he enjoyed spending time.

Bruce was born February 23, 1950 in McArthur, Ohio to the late William and Amanda (Lee) Morgan. He was preceded in death by his brother Steven. He retired from Ohio University on July 1, 1999 after 31 years of dedicated service, with the majority of that time as an electrician. He spent the past 16 years enjoying that retirement, doing what he wanted to do, whether it was long motorcycle rides with his wife, vacations with his family, writing short stories, or even just sitting on his wall listening to nature.

Bruce was always known for his kindness, gentleness, and fairness, along with his willingness to help all who needed it. Words cannot describe the amount of mutual respect and love he received from others.

A special thank you goes to brother-in-law Greg and buddy Douglas Taylor for all of their help, conversations, and friendship…cheers!

Bruce’s wife and daughters are very grateful for the excellent care he received over the past seventeen months from the nursing staff at the Martha Morehouse Medical Plaza, part of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center/OSU Wexner Medical Center. Special gratitude is extended to Dr. Sameh Mikhail for his compassion and for allowing Bruce to be an equal participant in making decisions about his own esophageal cancer treatment.

Services will be Tuesday, May 12 at 11:00 AM at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home in Coolville, Ohio with Pastor James Lambert officiating. Burial will be in Frost Cemetery on SR 144. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, May 11 from 4:00-8:00 PM.
