Virginia Deem Day Meeker, 98, of Tuppers Plains, OH passed away Monday, June 25, 2007 at Arcadia Nursing Center, Coolville, OH.
She was born March 26, 1909 in Wirt County, WV daughter of the late Casto C. and Della Joy Deem. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had a passion for making quilts for children and grandchildren. She worked at America Viscose, Parkersburg Rig and Reel and cooked at the Kanawha School.
Virginia is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Betty Day of Guysville, OH and Gilford and Ethel Valentine Rowley of Coolville, OH; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley Ann and Frank Martin of Davisville, WV; a son-in-law, Bruce Hager of Coolville, OH; a sister-in-law, Evalyine Deem of Parkersburg, WV; 22 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Hartman Day in 1955; her second husband, John Meeker in 1974; 3 daughters, Mary Ellen Day, Alma Hadfield and Pamela Hager; 5 brothers, Clyde Deem, Earl Deem, Roy Deem John Boyd Deem and Frank Deem; 4 sisters, Hattie Workman, Dora Hamrick, Wanda Deem and Delores Deem.
Services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, June 29, 2007 at White-Schwarzel Funeral Home, Coolville, OH with Roy Fike officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Parkersburg, WV.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, from 5-8 p.m.
